ABOUT B4T

Hi!

I'm Madeline Young, a student at Carmel High School and member of Second Presbyterian Church. I'd like to share what inspired me to start Blocks 4 Tots (B4T).

A group of our church members got together to help build a children's hospital in Eldoret, Keyna. And since the need for hospital supplies never ends, these neighbors and friends have continued to collect, package, and then travel to Africa so they can personally deliver the supplies to the Shoes 4 Africa Hospital

After hearing this cool story, I wanted to help!

As much as I loved my LEGO blocks, I noticed that my brother, sister and I just don't play with them anymore. My beautiful light blue, pink and white Cinderella castle sits alone in my closet. Between the three of us, we have bins and bins of brightly colored blocks of all sorts of shapes and sizes. And if you include my cousins and friends, there are even more blocks that sit in closets or basements, unplayed with.

So, just like LEGO blocks snap in place, I put the two ideas together to create B4T. My goal is to collect and clean 10-lbs of used (and much loved) LEGO blocks. I will clean and package the blocks so I can send them with the group on their next trip to the hospital. Someday I hope to take them to the hospital myself.

I think kids need both play and medicine to be healthy. With LEGO blocks, they can be as creative as they want from the comfort of their home or hospital bed.

Please help me in my mission. Drop-off your unused LEGO blocks today at any one of our donation locations, or email us to coordinate.

Sincerely,

Madeline Young
